Live-in Care for Dementia

If you or your loved one is living with dementia, you may need more support than usual to continue enjoying an independent life. As a family member or friend, it’s close to impossible to devote enough time to caring for your loved one while working or ensuring your own quality of life doesn’t suffer.

Many carers are understandably reluctant to move their loved one to a nursing home, which would involve not only a loss of independence but unnecessary distress for someone living with dementia.

That’s why more and more people are opting for live-in care instead, which provides the same level of care and attention, without uprooting your loved one from their home.

How Live-in Care Works

Live-in care offers round-the-clock specialist support in your own home. Live-in carers move into the family home, so are able to provide the same level of care as you would expect in a nursing home, but with a more personal touch.

Our carers are specially trained to support people living with dementia at any stage. They’ll be on hand to help with routines such as bathing and toileting, as well as preparing meals and providing companionship. Live-in carers can also help around the house, ensuring that your loved one will be able to enjoy time in their home.

Because our live-in carers work exclusively with one person, everything they do is tailored to your needs. You decide how much or little support you want to receive, with the peace of mind that help is never far away.

Providing Continuity

For someone living with dementia, moving house and shifts in routine can be daunting. Live-in carers support individuals to continue enjoying the life they love by fitting around their routines and preferences – from what activities you do each day to what you’d like to eat for dinner.

We take into account interests and hobbies as well as needs when assigning carers, creating happy partnerships with clients.

Live-in carers can also support couples where one person is living with dementia, allowing families to stay together.

Peace of Mind for You and Your Loved Ones

At Greenwood Homecare, we understand that you want what’s best for your loved ones and we’re dedicated to providing the most caring carers to make that happen.

We see our carers as more than just that – they’re the friendly face to share a cup of tea with in the morning or to enjoy reminiscing with over family photos. To find out more about how live-in care could improve your loved one’s quality of life, call us on 01733 808531.
