How Live-in Care Works
Live-in care is a cost-effective way to provide round-the-clock support for your loved ones. Instead of transferring to a nursing home, a fully trained and carefully selected carer moves into the family home to provide one to one, 24/7 assistance, whether that’s with mobility, personal care or simply having a friendly face and peace of mind in case of a fall or accident.
Choosing Live-in Care
Arranging live-in care begins with a meeting to discuss your needs in depth. We’ll take the time to visit you at home to find out exactly what type of support you need. If your loved one has any medical conditions, for example, we’ll be able to find an experienced carer to support them. We’ll then agree a personalised care plan that your live-in carer will deliver.
You’ll also have the opportunity to tell us what kind of carer you’re looking for – perhaps whether you’d like a male or female carer, or what interests you might share. Our primary goal is to match our clients with carers who they feel comfortable around, so we’ll always put your preferences first.
How It Works
Live-in care differs from other types of home care as the carer moves into a spare room in the family home, so they’ll always be there when you need them, day or night.
As well as providing tailored support such as mobility help or toileting, live-in carers prepare food for themselves and their clients and can help with everyday domestic tasks like washing up or laundry.
Most carers work for two weeks on, two weeks off rotations. You’ll therefore be matched with two carers who’ll be in good communication with each other to ensure a smooth handover. This arrangement means that you’ll never be left without care while your live-in carer rests.
Due to the intensive nature of support they provide, carers are also entitled to a two hour break each day. This can be arranged for a mutually convenient time, and we can organise a pop-in carer to cover if you’d prefer to have support for those hours.
You’ll find it doesn’t take long to get used to live-in care, as you maintain familiar routines and surroundings and friends and family can still come and go as you please.
Your carer is there to help you get the most out of each day, whatever that looks like for you. To find out how live-in care could help you, give us a call on 01733 808531.

More about how live in care works
Rather than making the move to a residential care home, an elderly person can remain in their own home where they will receive the same professional care and support, round the clock. In fact, you or your loved-one will receive a much more tailored care programme than you could expect in a care home with significantly more one-to-one care, which will vary depending on individual needs.
Aside from the more personalised care, you are able to vary your routine from day-to-day. This is particularly beneficial as the seasons change and you may wish to make the most of lighter evenings in the warmer months. You can also eat at a time that suits you and eat your favourite foods more often.
